2. Image Transmission
This captured image data of the human silhouette without the original background is sent from a transmitting client platform to a receiving client platform by our streaming codec and router via the Internet, an intranet, or a peer-to-peer wired or wireless network.
3. Image Transplantation
The third component of the Silhouette suite transplants the received captured image into a two-dimensional or three-dimensional scene. The scene may include the original background environment for conventional video-conferencing at real time frame rates. However, a more exciting application 'virtual-conferencing' is afforded by the transplantation of the image into IVN's highly realistic, computer-generated (virtual) environment called 'Nexos'.
3. Application Linking
Application linking provides a high degree of functionality in the 3D environment in that conventional applications (e.g., word processing, spread sheet, communication, etc.) are 'linked' to corresponding 3D objects.
4. Intuitive Contol
Intuitive control involves an automatic launch of these applications in the background as the user navigates towards the linked objects in the virtual environment and interacts with
5. System Requirements
Silhouette requires only a personal computer, PDA, cell phone, or game console with a high-speed broadband or wireless connection and an integrated or standalone video camera (web cam).
IVN's technology is 100 % VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) and X3D (the next-generation Extensible 3D). Both are non-proprietary technologies.
VRML and X3D are ISO Standards under International Standard ISO/IEC 14772-1:1997
Silhouette™
IVN's patented technology is 'Silhouette'. A suite of integrated applications which includes an image capture module, an image transplantation module, streaming codec, stream router, application linking and intuitive control. Silhouette will allow you to communicate in virtual worlds in true life-like fashion.
1. Image Capture
The first component of the Silhouette suite processes live video data to identify an image of a human subject in each frame of video data in real time.
The foreground image data is extracted from a background environment, which need not be a color homogeneous scene.
With Silhouette a human figure is identified in each frame of video data in real time.
